Slowly losing my mind! Must get out of the house. Damn ice storms. I live in Atlanta Georgia for dodge sake. Why is there ice? Better question, why does this kind of stuff only happen on weekends???

Georgia Force
I am an Arena Football fan. But I am extremely disappointed at the purchase of the Georgia Force by Arthur Blank, owner of the Falcons. His first move as team owner: move the team to Phillips Arena downtown. Never mind the Force experienced their greatest growth in North Atlanta where there old stadium is located. No, let's move them back to the place where attendance was horrid and further from their core audience. That way we can charge for parking and gouge folks for everything else. Free parking at the old stadium, $10-15 downtown. $5 beer at the old stadium, $7.50 downtown. $20 ticket 15 rows from the field on the sideline at the old place, $34 downtown. Fuck Arthur Blank!

Pet Peeve 15b
I hate when people wear the same thing everyday. For instance, there's a guy in the office who always wears a vest, like a ski vest, over his shirt. Let me expound on why this bothers me.
1) He usually wears it over a short sleeve shirt. Ski vests are meant to provide warmth which is usually an indication that the person wearing said vest is cold. However, short sleeves indicate that the wearer is comfortable if not a little warm. Conflicting articles of clothing annoy me (see Pet peeve 13c).
2) At least wear different versions of the same vest.....that one vest has got to stink now.
3) Not big on the concept of vests. I can not one time remember saying to myself, my arms are burning up but my chest is freezing. In fact, I can't ever remember my chest or stomach ever being cold when I'm dressed.
4) Lastly, the use of the exact same article of clothing shows such a lack of personality that it's disturbing.
But then again, I am a thug metrosexual......Kenneth Cole Bangers Represent!!!

Basketball
Well, football season has come to a close. I am going to try to keep informed concerning Hokies basketball but I've honestly never paid much attention to it.
The Hokies will head into Saturday's meeting with the highly ranked YellowJackets with a two game ACC win streak. Oddly enough, we are doing pretty decent in the ACC when compared against predictions. Maybe there's a bit of a chip on our collective shoulders after being shunned for so many years!!!
The Lady Hokies are currently ranked 23rd in the nation!

Magdeline is Mine
Now it feels official!!! I have my tags (putting them on tonite after I clean them) and Magdeline is listed as sold on the dealer's website. If you knew of the emotional rollercoaster I went on when I bought Dango the Durango back in May of 2000, you would overstand my worrying.
I hate when people say overstand. I usually see it when someone is on a soapbox trying to sound overly intelligent when discussing a controversial issue such as religion or race or when participating in spoken word.
ON that note, I really can't stand spoken word. Why do they feel the need to talk like that? And all the drama and overacting is annoying.....I do like Def Poetry Jam but I've usually been drinking when I see that so take that with a grain of salt....
Speaking on salt and that saying, how do you take a grain of salt? Better yet, why would you take a grain of salt? And am I the only that is surprised that the saying isn't 'take a grain of pepper' since the saying is used when one wishes to lessen something and\or discredit. Discredit is bad. Bad is always black. Pepper is black. Like Black Monday and the Black Plague. As a comic whose name escapes me now once said 'Black people didn't have shit to do with the stock market crash!'.

VT Basketball
Tech logged it's first ACC victory with a 59 -57 win over Clemson this past weekend. The Hokies travel to the ATL to take on the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets. Heavily favored are the Yellowjackets but there's a reason they play the game!!
Marcus Vick Back in School
Vick, not Mike, but he unproven brother Marcus, is back in school. After some drinking and smoking, he's back after a suspension from the university. My sources have told me that he would have taken the starter spot away from Bryan Randall based on last year's spring game had the charges not removed him from the equation.
Personally, I have not been sold on the younger Vick. Granted, the times he has played it was in a two quarterback system which in my opinion will make good quarterbacks very mediocre. But his accuracy was worse than Randall's, and his decision making didn't even compare (true there is a huge maturity difference). Hopefully, with Vick being the starter for all intents and purposes, he can continue the phenomenal job the Hokies have started in the ACC.

Ever Notice
Did you ever notice that the only appropriate time to grunt while eating is while eating big chunks of beef? I tried grunting while I was digging into my carrots and quite frankly I felt like I was lying to myself. There's no grunting while eating carrots....that's like finding a potent alcoholic beverage that uses yogurt....the two just don't go together....

Magdeline vs Mrs Xpinionated
Women often wonder why men love their cars so much. Sometimes it may appear that we love our cars more than people in our lives. For some of those people, that's a true statement. Now in no way, shape, or form do I love my car more than my wife (especially since she reads this here blog) but I am going to attempt to explain why cars hold such a special place in a man's heart.
Control. No matter how much we men like to act like we have our women in control, in the back of our mind we know they are crazy. Crazy as hell. And there is no controlling crazy as hell. You can only hope to contain it. But when it comes to our cars....well, we are in complete control. I tell Magdeline to do something, and if it's within her power she will do it.
Adaptability. Simply put, cars can be customized to your liking, wives cannot. You're pretty much stuck with your wife unless she decides to change (fat chance...I love you Mrs. Xpinionated) whereas if I decide that Magdeline needs a couple of horses under the roof, I can make that happen. This is tied closely to the control issue.
Silence. This is fairly straightforward. Women speak on average 8000 words a day. Men speak 5000 words a day. What's one of the most common questions from women to men? 'What are you thinking about?' In my head I respond, 'if I wanted you to know that I'd be talking.' But knowing better, I end up saying 'Nothin'. Magdeline, though, only speaks when I tell her to. When I put a foot to her, she sings. And, never, eva eva eva...eva does Magdeline talk back.
With all this said...Bae you know I'm just playing!!!!

3 Pointer Hell
We seriously have to be on pace for a franchise record for three point attempts this season per game. I think of all the possessions where we settle for a three pointer, a contested three pointer at that and I get to feeling awfully nasty.
In terms of last night's game, where did Lamar go? He didn't score his tenth point until the last 3 or 4 minutes. Caron scored but he really needs to work on his body control as he gets one to two charges per game. It wouldn't be so much of a problem except that I can pretty much predict when he's gonna bowl somebody over. Chucky Atkins needs to warm up better because his early game shooting is horrendous. Chris Mihm: GRAB THE REBOUND! Don't tip, don't bat, grab! Lastly, I like this Sasha Vujacic kid. He shot a few too many threes but his energy is excellent. It'll be interesting to see if he develops into a viable sub once Kobe returns.
PS WHERE THE HELL IS DEVEAN GEORGE!?!?!?!

CNN.com - Nail embedded in man's skull for 6 days - Jan 17, 2005Some are saying this is the luckiest guy ever....I disagree. How do you have a nail go through your mouth and not know it? At some point, you gotta realize that....stupidity. Secondly, how do you think it's a toothache when it's causing blurry vision? I've got bad teeth and have known my share of toothaches but never has my vision changed.
And apparently this is the second time someone has done this Colorado unknowingly.....watch how my respect for that state dwindles....(those that know me know why it has already taken such a plunge)

Lamar Odom
The Lamar Odom of the past 72 hours is the Lamar Odom I had been hoping to see at season's beginning. Kudos to all the Lakers for the way they've stepped up recently.

Time for Heart
Kobe Bryant went down early last night against Cleveland with a severe ankle sprain. Irony: Last year, in January, against Cleveland, Bryant's should was injured and he missed six games. This injury looks to be worse as he was carried out last night unable to put any weight on the ankle.
Am I worried? Well, tough games will be tougher now. But this is an opportunity for several players on the team to strut their stuff. Last night, Lamar Odom became the aggressor he should have been all season as did Caron Butler. There was an energy emanating from the players about the opportunity to show their skills. I think a lot of times, players get caught up in watching Kobe but now they can get to playing basketball. I also think it will be helpful to Kobe in the long run to see how the team performs without him. That's the way he can learn what these other guys can do, help build his trust in them a little bit more.
The Lakers spirited effort last night produced a 98 - 94 win improving our record to something like 18 - 3 when holding opponents below the century mark. Currently, we are on a 46 -36 pace for the season.

The man pretended like he was mooning somebody! Is this country that flipping uptight?? Is the league that flipping uptight??? It's bad taste to pantomime mooning somebody but it's completely alright to advertise increased stamina and sexual energy during the commercials?? You ever get that feeling that this world will be a great place once the younger, open minded folks take over???

The next person
The next person that refers to Magdeline as a station wagon will be wounded....deeply....with a rusty weapon.....often.....
Magdeline
Okay, should I be worried that Magdeline is still listed on the dealer's site as not sold? How long does it take to remove my baby from their car meat market?!?! Pops told me that they have already paid off Dango (my beloved Durango) so I don't know why my vehicle is still listed for sale on their website. Makes me nervous like they are going to call and want her back or something!
Driving
I'm not an agressive driver. You're just a neo-conservative driver. If you put me on a road by myself, you cannot notice any aggression about my driving. But put you on a road by yourself and your conservatism will be duly noted.
I'm only aggressive in relation to your conservatism. If you got the hell out of the left lane then I wouldn't have to pass you in the right. If you waited until you got in the turn lane to slam on your brakes, then I wouldn't be riding your ass. If you got off of your cell phone, then you would have the extra hand necessary to signal at which point I may let you over.

Damn Great Season
I guess the sting is starting to wear off now. The Hokies fell short in the Sugar Bowl falling 16 - 13 to Auburn. In a game where it seemed like the Hokies biggest enemy was themselves, it's heartbreaking thinking of what could have been. One thing is for certain, Auburn was in the right bowl. Even when they were up 16 - 0, they weren't dominating the game.
The Hokies have achieved more than anyone in the country thought they would this season. 10 -3, ACC Champions. Two of their three losses came against the #1 and the #2 teams in the country and neither was a blowout. In fact, there were chances for both games to be won as well as a chance for the loss to NC State to be won. The Hokies were not far from a 13 - 0 season.....Unranked to begin the season, top 10 to finish....I can't complain.....

Denver
Kobe returns to the god awful state of Colorado for a game against the Nuggets tonite. The Lakers lead the season series 2 - 0 and can clinch the series with a win tonite. It would also be the first time this season that the Lakers won three games in a row.
The Lakers had an impressive come from behind win against Minnesota Monday night as the 'other' stars for the Lakers took over in the fourth quarter with Kobe resting. After trailing by as many as 17 during the game, the Lakers rallied for a 105 - 96 victory outscoring the Wolves 38 - 20 in the final period.

Denver - Lost 3
Utah - Lost 9
And the Atlantic Division:

Good Win
After two straight losses in the state of Texas, the Lakers came out and played a helluva game against Houston. After racing to a 24 point halftime lead, the Lake Show managed to turn away every Rockets comeback with a 111-104 victory last night.
More importantly, Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, and Bob Sura each donated a $1000 for every point they scored to relief efforts for the tsunami. The final tally was $73000.
The next game is against Minnesota for a chance to move into the 6th playoff spot with a victory.

Andrea Yates
What the . . .? This woman killed her kids by drowning but is getting a new trial because during the trial someone said she may have gotten the idea from Law and Order and it turns out that Law & Order never had a show run about postpartem depression and kid drowning.
That is ridiculous. The woman, crazy, depressed or whatever killed, no wait, KILLED her children. Not only did she kill them, she drowned them. No quick shot to the head thing but a child literally having time to think that Mommy is trying to kill me. What a horrible frickin thought to have at any age, much less 5 and 7 years old. And the husband is blaming doctors for not diagnosing her postpartem depression??? Gimme a break, depression is serious but come on. She killed her kids.
She is as disgusting as Scott Peterson and she's confessed.....the only thing they really have on Scott that's not circumstantial is that he showed no remorse in his actions afterward.....which case is stronger here....
Alright sorry about the digression from what normally is a cheery blog.....bloke

Magdeline's First Trip
Nothing like a long drive in a new car. I figured out my cruise control without looking at it. I discovered that if you tap my turn signal, it stays on for three blinks without turning it all the way on or holding it down. I discovered that if I rev the engine under an overpass, my car will be the only car that is heard. I discovered that old comedians are way better than new comedians (thanks Sirius Satellite). I discovered uncensored radio far outperforms local radio. She did 296.7 miles this morning getting about 21 miles to the gallon. Not great but compared to the Durango I was driving I'm good with that.

No Blogging day
For some odd reason, I have nothing to say. I'm not in a bad mood. I'm actually excited about the Va Tech Auburn Game tonite. But strangely, I can't think of anything to say.
I had fun on New Year's. Had a decent weekend. Yep, that just about sums it up.
Oh, I could talk about traffic this morning which was surprisingly good. Only took 50 minutes to get to work which is good because I was running a tad behind. At lunch though, apparently I went to the driving range at dumbdriver hour as I couldn't get around anybody and nobody was doing the speed limit.
Speaking of speed limits, I find it awfully odd that we have 'limits' in this land of the free. We should have speed classes for driver licenses that you can test for so those that can safely drive at higher speeds are allowed to do so. Also, for major interstates in major cities, those without the highest speed license are restricted to certain lanes.
Okay, I'm done with my utopia.....

Sugar Bowl Baby
Auburn has been favored to win tonite's game in every report I've read. Va Tech can't say they are being disrespected though since most of these 'experts' have it between a 5 to 10 point victory for Auburn. I think otherwise.
I think the Hokies, nay, I know the Hokies will prevail.
