Not an upset

Sitting at the bar as the final seconds ticked off the ECU victory over the Hokies, the jackass fans that are UGA fans started chanting E-C-U. For reasons unknown to me, UGA fans are happiest when kicking other teams' fans when they're down. No worries, a simple 'When did you go to UGA?' will usually shut the majority of those fans up. In any case, another UGA fanboy comes behind me and says 'This year's App state!' Another stinging quality of UGA fans is their lack of football knowledge in general. But being used to this kind of harassment from them, I know the easiest to do is ignore them. But in my mind, I thought, 'You can't be serious.'

This was not an upset of App State-Michigan stature. We're talking about a team coming off of a bowl victory last year over Boise State (I believe). Slouches hardly.

We were completely dominated today. Defensively, we couldn't stop them when we needed it most. Third downs became a lesson in smash mouth football. Without Macho Harris, the corner routes were a given. And our normally attacking defense was passive at best, often stopping and waiting for the offensive player to make a move instead of laying the lumber. The result, missed tackles left and right. Offensively, we didn't look sharp. There seemed to be hesitations on running plays and interceptions that just took points off the board. I personally didn't agree with Beamer's decision to go for it on 4th and 1 early. Two reasons -- 1) Our FG kicker really could have used an easy FG to get him going in this season; 2) We struggled with this team last year. There is no reason to take sure points off the board.

I think this is going to be a long tough season. 41% of our players saw their first collegiate action today. Let's hope we can find ourselves against Furman. Congrats to East Carolina although unlike a lot of fans, this game scared me and apparently for good reason.

Missing Caylee

artmissingfloridagirlap Caylee has been missing since June.  Her mother (used loosely given the facts so far) did not report her missing for a month.  Upon returning to the grandmother's house, the grandmother called the police reporting that the trunk smelled like a dead body.

Since that day, Caylee's mother has not been charged for kidnapping (or suspected murder).  Obstructing justice blah blah blah is what she currently faces.  And the grandmother has completely flipped flopped in that now she swears by her daughter's innocence based on facts that will come to light when the time is right?!?!

Disgusting.  This beautiful little girl is missing and I fear dead.  Her mother has shown little to no remorse.  Her grandmother is frolicking between talk shows in her 15 minutes of fame.  And who speaks for the little girl.  For little Caylee?

True Story

This is so comedic (and sad) that I need not add any commentary:

G4 reports: Oh boy. As if having an internet boyfriend wasn't embarrassing enough, a North Carolina woman is facing attempted kidnapping charges for driving to Delaware and trying to take her former Second Life companion at gunpoint.

Kimberly Jernigan met her internet significant other in person a few months ago, after which the "victim" in this situation ended their relationship. Apparently, this sent poor Jernigan into a downward spiral, and after her first kidnapping at gunpoint attempt was laughed at, she posed as a US Postal worker to get his new address, broke into his home, bound and gagged his dog in the bathroom, and greeted him at the front door with a laser-sighted BB gun. I'm so not kidding.

After seeing the red dot appear on his chest when he walked inside, the victim immediately fled and called the police. His dog was unharmed, and the cops picked up Jernigan on the freeway sometime later. She is currently facing charges of attempted kidnapping, burglary, and aggravated menacing. So. Awesome.

Jason Taylor Injury

On top of our worst preseason beating in years, possibly ever, new Redskins DE Jason Taylor sprained his knee. He's expected to be out 10 days to two weeks.

Madden Results 8/24

Not so good tonite. My competition was a bit cheesy but all in all he controlled the ball, I panicked (often) and the result was a 21 - 0 loss. The game actually was a bit closer than the score indicates as I entered the fourth quarter only down 7-0. In addition, he threw a bomb for a touchdown with one second left in the fourth for the final margin. I say he was a bit cheesy because of 1) the constant moving of his dline in less than sim positions, going for 4th and 9 from the 50 with a lead, and onside kick to start the second half with a lead. But my five int's didn't help, some of which were user picks so nothing but myself to blame for those.

Madden Victory

Since this is a football blog, I figured I would add my ups and downs of Madden 09. Two games tonight but only one victory. The second game I was winning handily with less than two minutes left and Chris Cooley frolicking through an open meadow heading towards a 96 yard touchdown reception when AT&T's network crashed. . . . . bastard! I was up 28 - 14 and I was headed to at least a 35 -14 victory and a league win!

In the first game I was down 3 - 0 with 3 seconds left in the first half when Moss hooked up with Campbell for a 55 yard prayer. Got the ball at the half and held it for the entire third quarter scoring on the first play of the fourth quarter to take a 14 - 3 lead. Final 28 - 3 over the Chargers!

Here are the official results of your Madden NFL 09 game on 2008.8.24-2:31:26.

In this report, United States defense officials are demanding that Russia cease it's aggressive actions in Georgia.  Stop invading Georgia....says the country still invading Iraq. . . .

One of those days

Maybe it's a combination of exhaustion and irritability, but Saturday was one of those days where I couldn't conjure enough emotion or drive or desire to do much of anything but lay on the couch in varying positions of laziness.

I'm not even sure where the afternoon went as I watched hours of 'The Last Comic', the Olympics, and Car Wash. The night was a blur of napping, a bit of gaming, and 'The Other Boleyn Girl'. By the way, the book is ridiculously better than the movie.

Now's it's ten til two and I'm watching more Olympics. Odd given that I've watched sports that I normally couldn't care less about. Handball and volleyball seemed to be the rule of the day with some rowing, gymnastics, and boxing thrown in for good measure. By the way, I think I like team handball. A bit like basketball and soccer mixed together.

Anyway, I'm gonna lay on the couch and flip through the boob tube.....here's hoping I'm back to myself tomorrow....

Eye for an Eye

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="170" caption="No execution for obesity?"]No execution for obesity?[/caption]

Richard Cooey, a rapist and murderer of two young women, believes he should not be forced to endure execution because he is fat. At 5'7" and 267 pounds, he has poor veins.  In addition, he is currently on tax payer funded medicine for migraines that may have made his body resistant to the anesthesia provided during lethal injection.

Hmm...

Fuck him.  He raped and murdered two people.  They had no anesthesia.  They had no choices.  He's lived 22 years after killing two young women.  And we worry about his suffering.  Again, I say fuck him.  He needs to pay for what he chose to do.  And if it's painful, sorry.  Death hurts.  We're worried about making him comfortable on his way to hell?!?
I apologize for the language as I have tried to refrain from getting too vulgar in speech and content in recent months but this is one of those cases that society has pissed me off.  Further, I have not personally decided whether I'm pro capital punishment  or against it.  But I am against going out of our way for folks convicted of rape, murder, child molestation, and any other crime against another person (as opposed to crimes against property).  So if capital punishment is to be used, then do it with the same consideration the convicted had for their victim.

Update:  His appeal was denied.  He is scheduled to be executed on October 14, 2008.

New Look

By now I'm sure you've guessed that there is a new look here at Xpinionated.

I was sitting here with Mrs. Xpinionated watching Project Runway (she was watching and then she went to sleep and I just didn't turn it -- busy webbing it), when I decided I really wasn't pleased with the site's look as of late.

Well, the show inspired me but I wanted the theme to be something that suited me personally. Well, the Header suits me like a glove if you've ever met me in person. I am very much into funky button up shirts and the header was definitely something I would rock (like the horseshoe mustache I'm rocking today :)!

I did have to do some editing as the theme came with some space for advertising and that's not what this blog is about. Not that I could tell you what this blog is about but I can definitely tell you it's not about that!
